How does a community sauna work?
A community sauna works on trust. Guests are emailed self-service instructions upon booking and are trusted to leave the sauna clean and tidy for the next person. Your payment goes to the maintenance of the sauna and any proceeds are donated to the work of Fjord CleanUP who cleans and revitalize Oslo’s waterfront for you to enjoy!
- Our Saunas are located in central Oslo – see Google Maps here
- There are fresh water showers at our saunas so you can wash off after your sauna session.
- Our saunas fit up to 10 persons in public sessions and up to 14 for private sessions.
- Sauna sessions are 2-hours in duration. Please be out of the sauna by the time your session ends.
- There are changing rooms, place to leave your belongings, lights and heaters in our saunas.
- Please never put salt water on the sauna oven!
- All our members, both Fjord Cleaners and Sauna members, receive a 50% discount on private sauna bookings.
- Upon payment you will receive instructions on how to access the sauna.
- Bring a water bottle, swimwear and two towels (one to dry off with and one to sit on in the sauna). We provide fresh water which can be found in the white plastic containers, but you must remember to bring your own waterbottle.
- The sauna is wood-fired – we provide the wood and firelighting material. As a self-service sauna you add more wood as you please. Please check our Instagram for fire-lighting instructions @OSLOFJORDSAUNA (our sauna ovens are easy to get started & heat up fast!)
- Please leave the sauna neat and tidy and take away any rubbish and recycling when you leave.
- Please be respectful of neighbours and other sauna users at all times – kindness, tolerance and respect is the rule!
- If you need to report any problems please email info@fjordcleanup.no or in an emergency call +47 98677019
All proceed from the sauna goes to Fjord CleanUP who cleans and restores the Oslofjord ❤️
